Why would someone want to hide the Blog page…on a blog? Well, sometimes people do. For example, on this site I have hidden the blog page as it’s not needed. While there is a “blog” as such, it’s use for docs and I want to have finer control on how the posts are listed there.

So this is a perfect use case for hiding a blog. Or, maybe someone just wants to use Pure Blog as a site that has pages, but no blog. Now they can!

To hide your blog page, head to Settings then Site Settings, scroll down to the Blog Page option and set it to “Hidden (disable blog page)” and your blog page will be no more.

Once hidden, a new checkbox option will appear directly below: “Enable blog features (posts, tags, stats)”. Unchecking this option will disable all blog-centric elements in the admin area:

  • The Dashboard is disabled and hidden from navigation
  • Direct access to the Dashboard and Post Editor will redirect to the Content area.
  • The sidebar quick-action changes from “Write a post” to “New page”
  • The “Content” area defaults to showing static pages only.

Disable blog checkbox

If you have any published blog posts, they will still be available via their URL and the RSS feed will remain available.
